AILG Facilites Committee Meeting December 18, 2018 8:00am FCI Office W20-020 MIT Student Center Attendees: Larry Stabile, Pam Gannon, Bob Ferrara, Scott Klemm, Tom Holtey, Tom Stohlman, Brad Badgley, Ernie Sabine, and by phone Steve Baker and Peter Cooper Pam Gannon Facilities Assessment Steering Committee: Dept of Facilities has sent RFP to four firms for cost estimating. Two have declined. DSL is paying for the cost estimating for four houses. Will review proposals after January 1. ARUP will walk through with estimator. Tom Stohlman BSF: Have all CIs for Boston houses. Expect inspector to use checklist. Full inspections for Cambridge houses in spring. Some ARUP recommendations are open to debate and seem excessive: Fire rated doors, Door closers, Enclose main stairs, Conduit in stairwells, Emergency lights on fire escapes. Baker stated the issue as: Is it a reasonable use of resources to bring buildings to "best practices." Each owner needs to decide for themselves. What does MIT require? We should get cost estimates of ARUP "best practices" and estimates for minimum. Owners decide. Facilities Committee should describe minimum standard in bullet points. [Scott] Circulate for comments. Notice of Safety Concerns template: Deadline time per situation. Organization and address needs to be clear. Add cc's. Larry will reissue revised template. Notification to Accreditation process. Use Tom Holtey's [second] draft [added to Larry's doc]. Need to also notify AILG Board. Two houses still are not responding for FAP meeting with Tom Stohlman.
