AILG Facilities Committee Meeting 2/12/2020 8 am at FCI office MIT Student Center W20-020 Attendees: Larry Stabile, Scott Klemm, Dennis Collins, Tom Holtey, Tom Stohlman, Patrick McCabe, Pam Gannon, Ernie Sabine, Bob Ferrara, and by phone Peter Cooper BSF: Tom Stohlman reports preinspections have begun. Typical issues: contact response, storage in egress path. No freeze-ups yet. Boston fall CIs received. Cambridge most Cis and licenses received. FRSC: Pam Gannon reports PM RFP issued for phase I. Sent to architects and contractors who have worked for FSILGs or MIT. VP for Finance has left so decisions on hold for IRDF grants. Phase II would consume large project capacity. Proposals due Thursday. Committee meets Friday. Discussion of how to motivate repairs. Some alums have asked FSILG Office to withhold party authorizations. That gets good response. MIT Housing periodically has CFD smoke up a hallway to demonstrate to residents the challenge of egress in smoke. Moved, seconded and voted: Facility Committee should inform AILG Board of unaddressed safety issues such as those identified by BSF report. Facility Management: Got AILG endorsement. FCI has primary control. Facility Committee has an advisory role. Presentation at Thursday Plenary Meeting. Today job posting will go up for FM. Hopefully start by 4/1. FM initial task will be to make operating model for each building: both the physical and the organizational/communication. Complete by end of summer. Program description is on the web.
