Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity Pies the MIT Community for Innovation Africa
On May 1 AEPi raised money by “pieing” members of the MIT community. This year the annual philanthropy collected funds for Innovation Africa. It is the most lucrative fundraising effort in the international AEPi community, raising over $32,000.

Epsilon Theta Lends a Hand to the Greater Boston Food Bank
Students and alumni/ae from Epsilon Theta coed fraternity attended three group volunteer trips to the Greater Boston Food Bank, which serves as a supplier to food pantries, shelters, and free meal programs across eastern Massachusetts, distributing 48 million pounds of food last year. ET volunteers helped sort  donations of canned goods, dry goods, and frozen meat, helping to salvage hundreds of pounds of food each trip.

For this MIT sorority, the most fashionable models are role models. Kappa Alpha Theta continued its popular service initiative KATWalk, a fashion show involving MIT students. This philanthropy raises money for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Kappa Alpha Theta has been partnered with CASA for 25 years.

The White House launched the “It’s On Us” campaign earlier this year to engage students, especially men, in preventing sexual violence on campuses. MIT is among the institutions joining the effort. Several Greek organizations have signed on as sponsors, and this weekend many brothers and sisters participated in the initiative’s launch.

The 484 Phi Alpha Foundation Donates 2 million in 13th Year of Grants
The 484 Phi Alpha Foundation, which was founded by Sigma Alpha Epsilon alumni, has granted more than $900,000 to MIT programs, including $225,000 to the Public Service Center, $142,000 to iHouse, and $250,000 to Office of Engineering Outreach Programs. $500,000 has gone to neighborhood programs such as Tutoring Plus, Margaret Fuller Settlement House and Community Art Center, community-based NGO’s, with $400,000 for programs such as CCTV, Breakthrough Cambridge, and Best Buddies.
