The AILG is a volunteer organization, formed by and for the MIT FSILG community. In 2016-17, we had over 250 alums who volunteered! Our volunteers make it possible for AILG committees to work with students, MIT staff and administration, and other stakeholders to study issues important to the FSILGs and to make recommendations that take into account our viewpoints.
Interested in getting involved? We can do even more with your help! Whether you’re an alum of MIT or from another university, if you want to help the MIT FSILG community and serve current and future students, consider joining us.
How to Volunteer
Alum volunteers are needed for:
- Making accreditation visits. Accreditation teams visit each MIT FSILG regularly, to help the groups examine their own strengths and weaknesses, spread best practices, and discuss community expectations. If you can spend just one weekend day during a semester, you can be on an accreditation team! Learn more about the Accreditation program.
- AILG committees. The real work of the AILG happens in committees. Are you interested in a current issue, challenge, or opportunity for MIT FSILGs, such as mentoring or parent outreach? Would you be willing to share your expertise to help the community improve our facilities or finances? Take a look through the AILG Committees and activities to find an area of interest to you. Contact the Committee Chair or the AILG Board at firstname.lastname@example.org. Many committees are seeking additional members.
