Parent Outreach Committee

The goal of the Parent Outreach Committee is to promote the FSILG community by developing specific outreach and communication to parents. As students make choices about living situations and MIT community involvement, it is important to engage and inform parents about the benefits and opportunities of belonging to a fraternity, sorority, or independent living group at MIT. We utilize an interactive process involving students, alumni, parents, and MIT staff to identify and execute specific goals.

We have several handouts that are available for our community to download:

Our specific goals are:

  • Maintain a parent and alumni presence during MIT Parent Orientation, Family Weekend, and Campus Preview Weekend.
  • Ensure that information about FSILGs is made available to parents.
  • Identify best practices for parent outreach that can be used by all FSILGs.
  • Support our member organizations in outreach to parents.

The Parent Outreach Committee was started in 2015 and is chaired by Pamela Gannon (MIT ’84, Parent ’16, Parent ’18). Please contact pmgannon@alum.mit.edu if you are interested in serving on this committee or if you have any questions.
