Information Technology Committee

The AILG IT Committee collaborates with MIT’s IS&T department on a variety of technical projects for the FSILG community, including the following:

We always welcome new volunteers. If you are interested or have any questions, please email ailg-it@mit.edu. Recent graduates and current undergraduates are especially encouraged to attend. Please contact either of the committee co-chairs, Bob Xavier '87 (bobxavier@gmail.com), or Bob Ferrara '67 (bobferrara@alum.mit.edu) if you wish to join and/or attend.

Our next meeting is not until the fall, on Thursday, September 12 at 3PM in the FSILG Coooperative office at W20-020. At that meeting, we will set the schedule for the fall semester.

FSILG Network Information

If you have reached this page because you are seeking help with your FSILG network, please refer to the IS&T knowledge base.

Starting, July 1 all houses are asked to sign a slightly updated version 4 of the Network Management Program Agreement specifying the division of responsibilities between MIT IS&T and the FSILG.

FSILGs are required to designate at least one current undergraduate member as their Network Contact. The Network Contact serves as liaison with MIT IS&T for troubleshooting network problems and provides access to network equipment when needed. As of March 2016, Network Contacts are designated using the FCI Contact List, which is accessed at http://fsilg.coop. If no one is designated as a Network Contact, the default person for this role is the undergraduate house manager.

The “Slice of MIT” blog had a nice post describing the fiber optic Internet connections.
